When I created this educational video, I used an online video editor named WeVideo. WeVideo offered many basic features just like most video editors, such as text, timelines and transitions. Also, the free video editor featured a variety of audio files that I could choose from. Yet, WeVideo had noticable differences from other video editors. First of all, WeVideo had a simple layout which allowed me to easily edit my video. However, the editor also included long processes for importing files, which was unfortunate. Not only that, but WeVideo lacked any special features due to its simplicity. Still, WeVideo was a decent tool to use for video editing. Overall, I rated this a 3/5.

For this video about sentence improvements, I used another online video editor named Animoto. Unlike WeVideo (see above), Animoto featured a storyboard layout for easy editing. Unfortunately, the storyboard layout hindered me from freely adjusting the length of clips. Also, the layout prevented me from adding any creative transitions or content.

Not only were there those cons, but there were other cons about Animoto as well. First, Animoto had limits for how much text I could write in a certain clip. Second, the video editor had a large, unnecessary watermark placed over my video. This watermark covered up some of the text and made the video appear strange. For this reason, I viewed Animoto as a limited video editor and rated it 1.5/5.

Jacques Cartier Rap - Christian Park
00:00 / 00:00

Lyrics:

Jacques Cartier

Monsieur and Madame

Do you even know who I am?

My name is Jacques Cartier

The French explorer top-tier

In the year 1624

I found Newfoundland and Labrador

After sailing from Saint Malo

After the fail of Verrazano

Then discovered New Brunswick

And found Prince Edward Island so quick

Along with Iroquois and Stadacona

Awesome, Oh yeah

Though the voyage was treacherous

And the landscape dangerous

I sailed through the mighty currents

And claimed the land for France’s glory!

Chorus

Land ho! Jacques Cartier has found that land ho!

Yo, he travelled the Atlantic, with voyage transoceanic

And discovered North America instead of China…

Jacques Cartier

No Northwest Passage

The extreme advantage

To arrive at the land of China

For getting the wealth of Asia

But even though I wasn’t at China

France could still get wealth so finer

From trading with these peoples

Known as the Canadian Native Peoples

So onward, I quested!

Towards the west!

And explored the St. Lawrence

For the benefits of France

Though no colony was established

And no diamonds were ever found

I left a legacy

For the future explorers’ destinies!

Chorus

Land ho! Jacques Cartier has found that land ho!

Yo, he travelled the Atlantic, with voyage transoceanic

And discovered North America instead of OOF!

Donnaconna

Yo, I’m the Iroquois chief Donnaconna

Also known as Agouhanna

Met Jacques Cartier in my land

Welcomed him and his crew firsthand

But he was not what we expected

Because he ultimately kidnapped

My son Taignoagny

And the other Domagaya

He used them for his selfish gain

And led them into utter pain

Even though they and the others

Helped the French one after another

But still he was so ungrateful

That he kidnapped me as well

And later abandoned his own comrades

For bringing France, iron pyrites!

Chorus

Land ho! Jacques Cartier has found that land ho!

He made new discoveries, yet gave Iroquois misery

Was he good or bad? I don’t know, you decide…

I actually used two tools for this audio about Jacques Cartier and his adventurous life. The first tool I used was Soundation, an online music editor which featured many tracks and beats. Since there was so much variety, I combined different beats and tracks for creating the tune of the song. Combining was simple with Soundation's organized layout. For this reason, Soundation was an excellent music editor with a personal rating of 4/5.

However, Soundation had a few cons despite being an incredible tool. The major con I found was that payment was required for importing recordings into the music. With this con appearing as an obstacle, I had to use another tool called Audacity for adding my voice in the music. Audacity allowed me to easily finish the Jacques Cartier Rap.
